Maya Graham (she/her) currently works at the Funders' Committee for Civic Participation (FCCP). Previously, she served as principal at her consultancy centered around social impact and organizational growth strategies, with a special emphasis on democratic development. In her career, she has focused on building the power of citizens and civil society to affect change through movement building, coalitions, elections, multi stakeholder engagement, grassroots mobilization, and digital technology. Maya graduated from the University of Maryland with a government and politics degree and Mandarin Chinese language citation. Prior to and following graduation, she worked at the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Affairs and the Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism. She consequently spent 16 months at National Taiwan University and Peking University while working with the Asia Foundation in Taiwan on a legislative strengthening program, US media during a presidential visit to China, and the Department of Commerce’s Trade Facilitation Office. Her experience in Washington, DC includes time as campaign staff for the Maryland Democratic Coordinated Campaign, managing human rights and civic engagement external affairs programs, developing digital campaigns for progressive candidates and organizations, and providing programmatic support at the National Democratic Institute. Maya enjoys traveling the world, including through food based experiences.
