Identity identification today is often fragmented, using proprietary and siloed standards. This hinders the fight against financial crime, causes significant burden to Know Your Customer (KYC) or customer onboarding processes, and hampers transformation to a digital environment. The future of digital identity matters for competitiveness and security in a global and digital market. An economy where legal entity identification is done in a globally consistent, secure and efficient way brings several benefits – all of which can help firms and governments better prepare for the digital evolution.

Join the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) for our Washington Forum, “Accelerating into a Digital Future: Simplifying Entity Identification for the Digital Age,” on Thursday, October 24. Our Washington Forum, organized in collaboration with the Data Foundation, will allow attendees to engage in discussions with regulators and technology providers about how the LEI could be leveraged to enable straight-through processing, enhance entity identification efficiency, support blockchain and distributed ledger technology, and prepare for a global digital identity ecosystem. GLEIF and its partners will demo applications including the LEI in digital signatures, digital certificates and decentralized identifiers, and discuss the benefits and cost-reduction associated with the adoption of the LEI as a complement to existing entity identification systems.

The Forum is by invitation only and will abide by Chatham House rules.
